| |||
The best Experimental Effect depends on the intended role.
Examples include: | |||
* Drag Munitions for reducing a target's ability to gain thrust from ENG distribution;
* Emissive Munitions for increasing the target's signature;
* Overload Munitions for converting part of the explosive damage to thermal damage; and
* Thermal Cascade for adding heat pressure against shielded targets.
=== Missile Racks === | |||
Liz also provides conventional Missile Rack Engineering through Grade 5.
High Capacity is useful for ammunition-focused builds, while effects such as FSD Interrupt or Penetrator Munitions can give dumbfire missiles specialised utility.
=== Torpedo Pylons === | |||
Torpedoes have highly specialised combat applications.
Experimental Effects such as Reverberating Cascade can make Torpedo Pylons useful in anti-shield-generator roles, while Penetrator Payload focuses on internal-module damage.
Their limited ammunition makes them a specialised choice rather than a general-purpose weapon for sustained engagements.
=== Armour and Hull Reinforcement ===
Liz only provides Grade 1 Armour and Hull Reinforcement Package blueprints.
These are useful for early Engineering and for applying Experimental Effects, but Commanders seeking full Grade 5 hull Engineering should use Selene Jean or Petra Olmanova.
== Blueprint Pinning == | == Blueprint Pinning ==
EDFM recommendation: | After earning sufficient reputation with Liz, one of her blueprints can be pinned for use through Remote Engineering.
| |||
Because Liz's Armour and Hull Reinforcement Package Engineering stops at Grade 1, those are generally poor uses of her blueprint pin compared with one of her Grade 5 explosive-weapon blueprints.
Blueprint pinning should reflect the weapons and builds you actually use.
| |||
== What Liz Cannot Fully Engineer ==
Liz provides Grade 5 Engineering for her main conventional missile specialties, but several other modules stop at lower grades.

EDFM // Engineering / Engineers
An independent explosive-weapons Engineer based at Demolition Unlimited in Eurybia, opening the branches to Hera Tani and Etienne Dorn.
Liz Ryder is a ship Engineer based at Demolition Unlimited in the Eurybia system. She is one of the independent starting Engineers: no referral from another Engineer is required before a Commander can meet and unlock her.[1]
Liz specialises primarily in explosive weapons. She provides Grade 5 Missile Rack, Seeker Missile Rack, and Torpedo Pylon Engineering, Mine Launcher Engineering through Grade 3, and lower-grade Armour and Hull Reinforcement Package Engineering.[1]
In Live, her workshop also supports several Operations-era blueprints for compatible Merc weapons and mining equipment, including Abrasion Blasters, Enzyme Missile Racks, Mining Lasers, and additional Seeker Missile Rack modifications.[2]
Field note
Liz is one of the independent entry points into ship Engineering. Felicity Farseer, Elvira Martuuk, Tod "The Blaster" McQuinn, and The Dweller are separate starting Engineers; none of them must be unlocked before Liz.
Location
- System: Eurybia
- Facility: Demolition Unlimited
- Body: Makalu
- Engineer type: Ship Engineer
- Referral required: No
- System permit required: No
Demolition Unlimited is a surface Engineer base on Makalu in Eurybia.[3]
How to Discover Liz Ryder
Liz Ryder is known through public sources and does not require a referral from another Engineer.[1]
This makes her one of the independent starting points in the ship Engineer network.
How to Receive an Invitation
Reach at least Cordial reputation with the Eurybia Blue Mafia.[1][4]
The Eurybia Blue Mafia is an independent minor faction whose home system is Eurybia.[5]
Reputation can be raised by completing activities for the faction, with missions offering REP rewards being a straightforward method.
Because minor-faction presence and station control can change through the Background Simulation, use current faction information when looking for places where Eurybia Blue Mafia missions are available rather than relying on a permanently fixed station list.
See Minor Faction Reputation for how faction reputation works and how to raise it efficiently.
Field note
The reputation requirement concerns your standing with the Eurybia Blue Mafia. It is separate from your Engineer reputation with Liz Ryder, which does not begin until Liz herself has been unlocked.
How to Unlock Liz Ryder
Unlock requirements summary:
- Reach at least Cordial reputation with the Eurybia Blue Mafia.
- Obtain 200 units of Landmines.
- Donate the 200 Landmines to Liz Ryder.
Important
Landmines are ordinary cargo commodities. They are not Raw, Manufactured, or Encoded Engineering materials. Each unit occupies one tonne of cargo space, so transporting the entire unlock requirement at once requires 200 tonnes of cargo capacity.
For the complete step-by-step process, see Unlocking Liz Ryder.
Obtaining Landmines
Landmines are a Weapons commodity that can be purchased through commodity markets.[6]
Current commodity data lists them as normally produced by Military surface economies.[6]
You do not need to manufacture, salvage, or destroy anything to obtain Liz's unlock cargo.
Tip
Use current commodity-market information to locate a nearby source with enough supply rather than relying on an old fixed station. Liz requires 200 units, so check both the available supply and your ship's cargo capacity before departing.
Player-owned Fleet Carriers may also offer Landmines when another Commander has placed them on the carrier market. Carrier inventory and prices are player-controlled and can change.
Field note
Landmines are prohibited in some jurisdictions. Check the legal status of your cargo where relevant when transporting them.
Field note
Current Engineer data notes that station services may not become available immediately after Liz is unlocked. If the workshop or other expected services do not appear after completing the unlock, logging out and back in may make them available.[1]
Increasing Engineer Reputation
Reputation with Liz Ryder can be increased by:
- crafting Engineering modifications at Demolition Unlimited; or
- selling commodities at Demolition Unlimited.[1]
Higher Engineer reputation gives access to the higher grades Liz supports for each blueprint.
Reaching Grade 3 access and progressing at least one-third of the way toward Grade 4 allows Liz to provide referrals to Hera Tani and Etienne Dorn.[4][7][8]
See Engineer Reputation for how ship Engineer reputation, grade access, blueprint progression, referrals, and alternative reputation methods work.
Tip
If you have ordinary commodities to sell after unlocking Liz, selling them at Demolition Unlimited can help increase your Engineer reputation without relying entirely on Engineering rolls.
Engineer Unlock Chain
Liz Ryder is one of the independent starting points in the ship Engineer network.
After reaching Grade 3 access and progressing at least one-third of the way toward Grade 4, she provides referrals to:
- Hera Tani
- Etienne Dorn — Colonia
Hera Tani subsequently leads to Broo Tarquin and Tiana Fortune.[9][10]
The branch is therefore:
Liz Ryder ├── Hera Tani │ ├── Broo Tarquin │ └── Tiana Fortune └── Etienne Dorn [Colonia]
Field note
Etienne Dorn is a direct referral from Liz Ryder. He is not reached through Hera Tani. Likewise, Broo Tarquin and Tiana Fortune are referrals from Hera rather than direct referrals from Liz.
See Engineer Unlock Guide for the complete referral network.
Available Engineering
Liz's current Engineering coverage is shown below. Where individual blueprints have a lower limit than the module's overall maximum grade, that limit is shown explicitly.[1]

Operations-era Engineering
The Operations-era Engineering system added several new blueprints to Liz Ryder's workshop.[2]
These modifications are available only in Live and require compatible Merc modules.
They also use Merc Coin as part of their Engineering costs.
Far-reaching Abrasion Blaster
Far-reaching increases Abrasion Blaster range and projectile speed while reducing power draw, distributor draw, and thermal load, at the cost of module integrity.[11]
Liz can apply Far-reaching through Grade 3.
For Grade 4 and Grade 5, the module must be taken to Juri Ishmaak.[11]
Important
Far-reaching can only be applied to compatible Merc Abrasion Blasters.
High-yield Enzyme Missile Rack
High-yield increases Enzyme Missile Rack ammunition and magazine capacity, with higher grades also increasing ammunition reserves, at the cost of additional mass and power draw.[12]
Liz can apply High-yield through Grade 3.
Juri Ishmaak can apply the same blueprint through Grade 5.[12]
Important
High-yield can only be applied to compatible Merc Enzyme Missile Racks.
Long Range Mining Laser
Long Range greatly increases Mining Laser effective range while changing its power, distributor, heat, integrity, and damage characteristics.[13]
Liz can apply Long Range through Grade 3.
Juri Ishmaak can apply it through Grade 5.[13]
Important
Long Range Mining Laser Engineering can only be applied to compatible Merc Mining Lasers.
Additional Seeker Missile Rack blueprints
Liz also provides three Live-only Seeker Missile Rack blueprints:
Juri Ishmaak can take each of these newer blueprints through Grade 5.
Important
These three blueprints apply only to compatible Merc Seeker Missile Racks.
Field note
The Drag Seeker Missile blueprint is a normal Engineering blueprint and is separate from the Drag Munitions Experimental Effect. A compatible weapon may use the Drag blueprint and then receive an Experimental Effect separately where allowed.
Experimental Effects
Experimental Effects are separate from the main Engineering blueprint. A compatible weapon or defensive module can normally have one Experimental Effect in addition to its blueprint modification.
Liz can apply Experimental Effects to Missile Racks, Seeker Missile Racks, Torpedo Pylons, Mine Launchers, Armour, and Hull Reinforcement Packages.
Her current Abrasion Blaster, Enzyme Missile Rack, and Mining Laser blueprints do not have Experimental Effects available.[11][12][13]

Field note
Liz can apply compatible Experimental Effects even when her own maximum blueprint grade for that module is lower. For example, Armour engineered to Grade 5 by Selene Jean can still be taken to Liz for a compatible Armour Experimental Effect.
See Experimental Effects for the effects, tradeoffs, and material costs of each option.
Important
Experimental Effects cannot be applied through ordinary Remote Engineering. The module must be taken to an Engineer who works on that module.
Recommended Engineering
Liz's strongest conventional Engineering is focused on explosive weapons.
Seeker Missile Racks
Seeker Missiles are ammunition-limited weapons, making ammunition capacity an important consideration for sustained combat.
Tip
Common general-purpose choice: High Capacity
High Capacity Seeker Missile Rack is a strong general-purpose choice when additional ammunition and magazine capacity are more valuable than minimizing weapon mass and power draw.
Liz provides the conventional High Capacity blueprint through Grade 5.
The best Experimental Effect depends on the intended role.
Examples include:
- Drag Munitions for reducing a target's ability to gain thrust from ENG distribution;
- Emissive Munitions for increasing the target's signature;
- Overload Munitions for converting part of the explosive damage to thermal damage; and
- Thermal Cascade for adding heat pressure against shielded targets.
Missile Racks
Liz also provides conventional Missile Rack Engineering through Grade 5.
High Capacity is useful for ammunition-focused builds, while effects such as FSD Interrupt or Penetrator Munitions can give dumbfire missiles specialised utility.
Torpedo Pylons
Torpedoes have highly specialised combat applications.
Experimental Effects such as Reverberating Cascade can make Torpedo Pylons useful in anti-shield-generator roles, while Penetrator Payload focuses on internal-module damage.
Their limited ammunition makes them a specialised choice rather than a general-purpose weapon for sustained engagements.
Armour and Hull Reinforcement
Liz only provides Grade 1 Armour and Hull Reinforcement Package blueprints.
These are useful for early Engineering and for applying Experimental Effects, but Commanders seeking full Grade 5 hull Engineering should use Selene Jean or Petra Olmanova.
Blueprint Pinning
After earning sufficient reputation with Liz, one of her blueprints can be pinned for use through Remote Engineering.
Tip
EDFM recommendation: High Capacity Seeker Missile Rack is a practical blueprint to consider pinning at Liz.
Liz provides the conventional High Capacity Seeker Missile Rack blueprint through Grade 5, and ammunition capacity is useful on many Seeker Missile builds.
If your fleet uses dumbfire Missile Racks more often than seekers, High Capacity Missile Rack is an equally reasonable alternative.
Because Liz's Armour and Hull Reinforcement Package Engineering stops at Grade 1, those are generally poor uses of her blueprint pin compared with one of her Grade 5 explosive-weapon blueprints.
Blueprint pinning should reflect the weapons and builds you actually use.
Important
A pinned blueprint does not allow you to apply Experimental Effects remotely. Effects such as Drag Munitions, FSD Interrupt, or Reverberating Cascade still require visiting an appropriate Engineer workshop.
What Liz Cannot Fully Engineer
Liz provides Grade 5 Engineering for her main conventional missile specialties, but several other modules stop at lower grades.
Her maximum grades are:
- Missile Rack: Grade 5
- Seeker Missile Rack: Grade 5 for conventional blueprints
- Torpedo Pylon: Grade 5
- Mine Launcher: Grade 3
- Abrasion Blaster — Far-reaching: Grade 3 (Live only)
- Enzyme Missile Rack — High-yield: Grade 3 (Live only)
- Mining Laser — Long Range: Grade 3 (Live only)
- Seeker Missile Rack — Drag: Grade 3 (Live only)
- Seeker Missile Rack — Lightweight Thermal: Grade 3 (Live only)
- Seeker Missile Rack — Lockdown: Grade 3 (Live only)
- Armour: Grade 1
- Hull Reinforcement Package: Grade 1[1]
For higher-grade alternatives:
- Selene Jean provides Grade 5 Armour and Hull Reinforcement Package Engineering.
- Petra Olmanova provides Grade 5 Armour and Hull Reinforcement Package Engineering in Colonia.
- Juri Ishmaak provides Grade 5 Mine Launcher Engineering.
- Petra Olmanova also provides Grade 5 Mine Launcher Engineering in Colonia.
- In Live, Juri Ishmaak provides Grade 5 Far-reaching Abrasion Blaster, High-yield Enzyme Missile Rack, Long Range Mining Laser, Drag Seeker Missile Rack, Lightweight Thermal Seeker Missile Rack, and Lockdown Seeker Missile Rack Engineering.[11][12][13][14][15][16]
Liz remains a primary Bubble Engineer for conventional Grade 5 Missile Racks, Seeker Missile Racks, and Torpedo Pylons.
