The Mining Laser is the primary hardpoint for laser mining. It breaks ordinary fragments from suitable asteroids; those fragments still have to be collected and processed by a Refinery before they become cargo.

Mining role
- Mining role
- Breaks standard mining fragments from laser-mineable asteroid material.

- Notes
- Still requires a refinery and cargo space to turn fragments into saleable cargo.
Mining lasers are not used for every mining method. Core Mining uses seismic charges and abrasion blasting, while Sub-surface Mining uses displacement missiles. A commander fitting for laser mining should reserve enough optional space for collector support, a refinery, cargo, and limpets rather than filling only hardpoints.
