A dumbfire missile hardpoint valued for high burst damage against shields and hull, at the cost of a small ammunition reserve.
Missile Racks are unguided, dumbfire missile hardpoints. Unlike Seeker Missile Racks, their missiles travel in a straight line once fired and don't lock onto a target, trading tracking for reliability against a target's own countermeasures.
Overview
Each Missile Rack carries a small, fixed number of missiles rather than drawing from the ship's weapon capacitor, so ammunition management matters more than heat management for this weapon. A single hit can do serious damage to shields or hull, making Missile Racks a common choice for burst-damage builds and for finishing off a target that has already been worn down by sustained weapons fire.
Because they don't track, Missile Racks reward a Commander who can line up a shot manually, and they are unaffected by an enemy Chaff Launcher (which only disrupts gimballed and turreted tracking).
