Use this procedure for the core-mining loop: search, confirm, place charges, detonate, and collect the exposed deposits.

Procedure

Procedure

1. Use the pulse wave analyser while moving through the ring to identify promising asteroids.
2. Inspect candidates closely and use a prospector where appropriate before committing charges.
3. Target fissures and place seismic charges while watching charge strength.
4. Keep the detonation meter in the safe range rather than stacking charges blindly.
5. Move clear before the timer completes.
6. After detonation, target exposed deposits and break them loose with the abrasion blaster.
7. Keep collector limpets active until the useful deposits and fragments have been collected.

Completion check

A core asteroid is complete when the cracked remains no longer have useful exposed deposits or collectible fragments for the run.

Common problems

• Detonation is too weak: add or replace charges before the timer expires if the meter allows it.
• Detonation is too strong: disarm charges if needed and rebuild the charge pattern.
• Deposits remain after the explosion: use the abrasion blaster; seismic charges only expose the deposits.
