The Hatch Breaker Limpet Controller launches limpets that attach to a targeted ship's cargo hatch and force it open, spilling some of that ship's cargo for the attacker to collect.

Overview

Hatch Breaker limpets are one of four original Limpet Controller types (alongside Collector, Fuel Transfer, and Prospector), and are the module that actually makes ship-to-ship piracy possible — without one, a pirate can disable a target's drive but has no way to make it release cargo. A target with a functioning Electronic Countermeasure can strip an attached Hatch Breaker limpet before it finishes forcing the hatch, so piracy builds and their defences are closely linked.

Important

Piracy carries legal and reputation consequences within the game's factions and Powerplay systems. This article describes what the module does, not whether using it is advisable in a given situation.
