Objective
Gain access to Selene Jean's Engineer services at Prospector's Rest in Kuk.
Prerequisites
- Discovery: Selene Jean is discovered through Tod "The Blaster" McQuinn.
- Invitation: Mine and refine at least 500 tonnes of ore.
- Reach Grade 3 access and at least one-third progress toward Grade 4 with Tod "The Blaster" McQuinn.
- Obtain 10 units of Painite.
Required Materials, Equipment, and Access
Obtaining Painite Painite is produced through mining.
For Selene's unlock, the simplest approach is to collect at least 10 tonnes while working on the 500-tonne mining requirement.
Painite can be laser-mined from suitable asteroids in metallic rings. A Detailed Surface Scanner can be used to locate Painite hotspots within planetary rings, and an A-rated Prospector Limpet Controller improves fragment yield while also showing the contents of the asteroid.
A basic laser-mining setup normally includes:
- one or more Mining Lasers;
- a Refinery;
- a Prospector Limpet Controller;
- a Collector Limpet Controller;
- limpets; and
- enough cargo space for the commodities you intend to keep.

Tip
Once you have mined the 10 Painite required for Selene, keep it in your cargo hold while finishing the remainder of the 500-tonne requirement. Other mined commodities can be sold or discarded as needed.

Current Engineer data specifically lists Selene's unlock requirement as 10 units of mined Painite. Mining the required Painite yourself while completing the 500-tonne requirement avoids relying on alternative acquisition methods whose behavior may differ between game versions.

Current Engineer data notes that station services may not become available immediately after Selene is unlocked. If the workshop or other expected services do not appear after completing the unlock, logging out and back in may make them available.
Step-by-Step Procedure
- Reach Grade 3 access and at least one-third progress toward Grade 4 with Tod "The Blaster" McQuinn.
- Receive Tod's referral to Selene Jean.
- Mine and refine at least 500 tonnes of ore.
- Obtain 10 units of Painite.
- Travel to Prospector's Rest in Kuk.
- Donate the 10 Painite to Selene Jean.
- Enter the Engineer workshop and begin increasing your reputation with Selene.
