Usage

Place at the top of any gameplay-facing article. Status must be text, not colour alone — see Elite Dangerous Field Manual:Verification Policy.

Compact by default (2026-08-08 revision): a badge/mode/version headline row, then only the three fields a reader needs at a glance (Last reviewed, Source quality, Known uncertainty). Reviewer and the optional Legacy differences/Recent changes/Verification notes fields sit behind a native MediaWiki collapsible toggle ("View verification details") — this uses core mw-collapsible (jquery.makeCollapsible, loaded on every page by default), not a new dependency. Nothing is removed, only what's shown before the toggle is clicked.

Keep source_quality and uncertainty genuinely concise — they render in the compact, always-visible area, so a long paragraph there defeats the point of this revision. If a claim needs a longer explanation, put that explanation in the article body (near the claim itself) rather than in this template.

|legacy_differences=, |recent_changes=, and |notes= are optional — omit them and nothing renders, same pattern as every other optional field here. Use legacy_differences when a fact on this article genuinely differs between Live and Legacy (routine, can apply at any status); reserve status=Legacy only itself for articles that are entirely about a Legacy-exclusive mechanic with no Live counterpart at all — see Elite Dangerous Field Manual:Verification Policy for the full distinction. status=Upcoming and status=Legacy only populate their own maintenance categories (Category:Upcoming Content, Category:Legacy-Only Content).
