The Shield Generator is a core internal module that projects a ship's deflector shield, absorbing damage before it reaches the hull. Not every ship carries one — it occupies a core internal slot that a Commander can instead leave empty or fill with a different core internal module, trading defence for other priorities.

Overview

A Shield Generator needs sufficient spare capacity from the Power Plant and Power Distributor to stay raised; if the ship draws too much power elsewhere, the shield can collapse ("shields down") until enough capacity is freed up. Shield strength is also boosted by any fitted Shield Booster utility modules.
