How to Ignore Unwanted Mining Commodities
EDFM // Mining / Field Procedures
Use the contacts and refinery workflow to stop collector limpets from repeatedly bringing in fragments you do not want to keep.
Use this procedure during a mining run when collectors keep retrieving fragments that are not part of the current cargo plan.

Before you start
- Know which commodity or material the run is trying to keep.
- Have active fragments, chunks, or canisters visible in the contacts list.
- Check the Refinery before discarding anything valuable.
Procedure
Procedure
- Open the contacts list while fragments or chunks are nearby.
- Identify a fragment type that is not wanted for the current run.
- Add that fragment or commodity to the ignore list using the available contact/refinery controls.
- Check the refinery for existing partial bins of the same unwanted resource.
- Vent or clear unwanted refinery bins if they are blocking useful fragments.
- Relaunch or continue collectors only after the ignore choice is set.
- Recheck the contacts list after the next asteroid, because a different unwanted commodity may need its own ignore action.
Completion check
The procedure is complete when collector limpets stop prioritizing the unwanted fragment type and useful refinery bins can continue filling.
Common problems
- Collectors still bring the wrong resource: verify the correct contact type was ignored and repeat the process for other unwanted commodities.
- The refinery remains full: ignoring future fragments does not clear existing bins; vent or clear blocked bins separately.
- A useful commodity was ignored by mistake: remove it from the ignore list before continuing the run.
- The run target changes: review the ignore list before switching commodities or moving to a new hotspot.
