New: all-in-one metadata + licensing template for ordinary gameplay screenshots

Fix: wrap categorization in <includeonly> -- the template page itself was being categorized as a file, not just pages that transclude it

The recommended all-in-one template for an ordinary ''Elite Dangerous'' gameplay screenshot — cropped Engineer headshots, ship renders, facilities, UI elements, locations, and so on. Add it directly to the file description at upload time (or after, on the <code>File:</code> page). It records the useful metadata '''and''' automatically includes the same Frontier attribution/non-CC notice as {{tl|License-ED screenshot}} — no need to also paste legal wording by hand, and no need to separately pick a Licensing dropdown option (leaving it on "no license selected" is fine when this template is used).

Usage

The recommended all-in-one template for an ordinary Elite Dangerous gameplay screenshot — cropped Engineer headshots, ship renders, facilities, UI elements, locations, and so on. Add it directly to the file description at upload time (or after, on the File: page). It records the useful metadata and automatically includes the same Frontier attribution/non-CC notice as {{License-ED screenshot}} — no need to also paste legal wording by hand, and no need to separately pick a Licensing dropdown option (leaving it on "no license selected" is fine when this template is used).

{{Elite Dangerous screenshot
 |description = Professor Palin portrait/headshot
 |subject = Professor Palin
 |captured_by = CMDR Example
 |capture_date = 2026-08-08
 |game_version = Live
 |location = Abel Laboratory, Arque
 |source = In-game screenshot
 |notes = (optional)
}}

Fields:

  • description — what the image shows, in a sentence.
  • subject — the specific Engineer/ship/location/UI element/etc. pictured.
  • captured_by — the contributor's commander name or handle. Leaving this out flags the file into Category:Files missing source information rather than silently crediting nobody.
  • capture_date — when the screenshot was taken (not when it was uploaded, if different).
  • game_version — e.g. "Live", "Legacy", or a specific named update if relevant.
  • location — in-game system/body/facility/station shown, where applicable; omit for UI-only screenshots.
  • source — defaults to "In-game screenshot"; only override for an edge case (e.g. a cropped/annotated version of another contributor's original capture — say so here).
  • notes — optional, anything else worth recording (e.g. "annotated to highlight X").
