=== Biological Samples ==

Biological Samples are physical Odyssey Goods.

Current material data lists them in:

Employee Genetic Data is Odyssey Data.

Current material data lists it in:

* CMD buildings
* mission rewards

Because it is Data, Employee Genetic Data does not occupy the physical Goods section of the suit backpack.

Improved Battery Capacity
Improved Battery Capacity increases the suit's total battery-energy capacity by 50%.

The current modifier is:

* +50% battery energy capacity

The current recipe is:

* 5 Reactor Output Review
* 8 Maintenance Logs
* 3 Ion Battery

* 750,000 CR

Other Engineers currently providing Improved Battery Capacity include:

* Wellington Beck
* Rosa Dayette

Maverick Suit
A Maverick Suit regularly consumes energy through its tools and during prolonged settlement operations, making additional battery capacity broadly useful.

Dominator Suit
The Dominator Suit benefits from the larger reserve during extended combat, particularly when shields are used heavily.

Artemis Suit
The Artemis Suit can benefit during extended exobiology work, particularly when operating for long periods away from the ship or SRV or in environments that increase suit energy consumption.

Night Vision
Night Vision adds night-vision capability to the suit.

The current recipe is:

* 5 Surveillance Equipment
* 3 Surveillance Logs
* 3 Radioactivity Data
* 3 NOC Data
* 5 Circuit Switch
* 1,000,000 CR

Only two current Odyssey Engineers provide Night Vision:

* Oden Geiger — Bubble
* Yi Shen — Colonia

Night Vision can make it easier to:

* navigate dark terrain;
* identify structures and obstacles;
* locate NPCs and settlement features;
* fight without relying entirely on the suit torch; and
* operate at powered-down or poorly illuminated settlements.

Artemis Suit
Night Vision is highly useful for an Artemis Suit intended for planetary exploration and exobiology, since biological signals frequently need to be located on bodies where the local terrain is dark.

Maverick Suit
A Maverick Suit benefits during settlement salvage, infiltration, Restore missions, and operations at powered-down settlements.

Dominator Suit
A Dominator Suit can benefit during surface conflict zones and combat missions taking place in darkness.

Scope
Scope adds a magnified optic to a compatible handheld weapon or improves the weapon's existing optic.

The current recipe is:

* 5 Spectral Analysis Data
* 3 Biometric Data
* 5 Optical Lens
* 3 Optical Fibre
* 500,000 CR

Other Engineers currently providing Scope include:

* Wellington Beck
* Rosa Dayette

Scope can pair naturally with modifications such as Greater Range when the entire weapon is being configured for ranged engagement.

Stability
Stability reduces the recoil generated by a handheld weapon.

The current modifier is:

* +30% Stability

The current recipe is:

* 5 Mining Analytics
* 8 Risk Assessments
* 5 Viscoelastic Polymer
* 5 Micro Hydraulics
* 500,000 CR

Other Engineers currently providing Stability include:

* Domino Green
* Rosa Dayette

Stability can also complement Scope on a ranged weapon by making the sight picture easier to maintain during repeated fire.

Oden Geiger does not currently refer the Commander to another Odyssey Engineer.

He is therefore the endpoint of this branch.

Increasing Engineer Reputation
Not applicable to Odyssey Engineers in the same way as ship Engineers.

Oden Geiger does not use the Grade 1–5 Engineer-reputation progression found at ship Engineer workshops.

Once Oden has been unlocked, his modifications can be installed provided that:

* the equipment is compatible;
* the suit or weapon has an unused modification slot; and
* you possess the required Odyssey materials and credits.

The suit or weapon itself is upgraded separately through Pioneer Supplies.

Oden has no further Engineer referral requirement.

See Odyssey Engineering for the complete on-foot Engineering system.

Experimental Effects
Experimental Effects
To be added — not confirmed in the sources checked for this pass.

Increasing Engineer Reputation
Not applicable.
Reputation increases through crafting modifications at their workshop, in line with the general mechanic covered on the main Engineering page.

Odyssey suit and handheld-weapon Engineering does not use the separate ship-module Experimental Effects system.

Oden's five modifications are themselves the permanent modifications installed onto the equipment.

Blueprint Pinning
Blueprint Pinning
Fact: Oden Geiger's confirmed specialty area is Accuracy and optics.

EDFM recommendation: Not yet made. A pinning recommendation needs the specific modification and maximum-grade data above filled in first see Elite Dangerous Field Manual:Engineering Architecture for why EDFM treats pinning guidance as editorial judgement, not a database fact.
Not applicable.

Odyssey modifications cannot be pinned for Remote Engineering in the same manner as ship Engineering blueprints.

A suit or weapon must be taken directly to Oden Geiger or another Odyssey Engineer offering the desired modification.

Recommended Engineering
Oden's modification set ranges from broadly useful suit upgrades to specialised weapon modifications.

General-purpose suits
Which one should take priority depends on the suit's intended purpose and the remaining modification slots.

Maverick Suit
For a Maverick Suit used for settlement missions, salvage, and infiltration:

* Night Vision — strong general-purpose visibility improvement
* Improved Battery Capacity — extends settlement operating time
* Enhanced Tracking situationally useful for identifying NPCs during occupied-settlement work

Enhanced Tracking generally competes with more broadly useful Maverick modifications such as Extra Backpack Capacity and Reduced Tool Battery Consumption.

Artemis Suit
For an exploration-focused Artemis Suit:

* Night Vision is highly useful for dark-side exobiology and terrain navigation.
* Improved Battery Capacity extends time away from the ship or SRV.
* Enhanced Tracking normally provides little benefit during isolated exploration.

Dominator Suit
For a combat-focused Dominator Suit:

* Night Vision is useful for nighttime conflict zones and settlement combat.
* Improved Battery Capacity supports longer periods of shield and suit operation.
* Enhanced Tracking is more situational because hostile contacts are usually already obvious during active combat.

Oden Geiger is an Odyssey Engineer based at Ankh's Promise in the Candiaei system. He is reached through Terra Velasquez and specialises in suit sensors and endurance, night vision, and weapon optics and recoil control.[1]

Oden provides Enhanced Tracking, Improved Battery Capacity, Night Vision, Scope, and Stability.[1]

Field note

Odyssey Engineering does not use the Grade 1–5 Engineer-reputation progression used by ship Engineers. Suits and weapons have equipment grades and modification slots; Oden installs individual modifications into those slots.

Location

  • System: Candiaei
  • Settlement: Ankh's Promise
  • Body: Candiaei 9 c
  • Distance from arrival: approximately 941 Ls
  • Engineer type: Odyssey Engineer
  • Prerequisite Engineer: Terra Velasquez
  • System permit required: No

Ankh's Promise is a surface Engineer base on Candiaei 9 c.[2]

The facility includes the usual Odyssey concourse services, including a bartender, Pioneer Supplies, Frontline Solutions, and Oden's workshop.[2]

How to Discover Oden Geiger

Oden Geiger is discovered through Terra Velasquez.[1]

After unlocking Terra, provide her with 15 Financial Projections to receive the referral to Oden.[3]

Financial Projections are Odyssey Data.

Important

Do not confuse Terra's own unlock with Oden's referral:

  • Unlock Terra Velasquez: complete 6 qualifying Covert Theft and/or Covert Heist missions.
  • Discover Oden Geiger: provide Terra with 15 Financial Projections.

See Terra Velasquez for the complete preceding Engineer progression.

How to Receive an Invitation

There is no separate invitation requirement after Terra Velasquez has referred Oden.

Once Oden has been discovered, complete his bartender-sales requirement to unlock his workshop.[1]

How to Unlock Oden Geiger

Unlock requirements summary:

Important

You do not need 20 Biological Samples, 20 Employee Genetic Data, and 20 Genetic Research. The requirement is 20 combined.

Tip

EDFM recommends waiting until Oden has been discovered through Terra before beginning the bartender sales. Older reports describe Engineer-unlock sales performed before discovery failing to count reliably, so retaining the qualifying materials until Oden appears in your Engineer panel is the safer approach.

For the complete step-by-step process, see Unlocking Oden Geiger.

Obtaining Oden's Unlock Materials

Oden's three qualifying unlock materials are split between physical Goods and stored Data.

Material Type Current acquisition locations
Biological Sample Goods STO buildings, AGRI buildings
Employee Genetic Data Data RES buildings, MED rooms, CMD buildings, mission rewards
Genetic Research Data MED rooms, RES buildings, AGRI buildings, mission rewards

= Biological Samples

Biological Samples are physical Odyssey Goods.[4]

Current material data lists them in:

  • STO buildings
  • AGRI buildings[4]

Because they are Goods, Biological Samples occupy physical Odyssey Goods storage.

Tip

Agricultural settlements are particularly useful for Oden's unlock because their loot pools can contain both Biological Samples and Genetic Research.

= Employee Genetic Data

Employee Genetic Data is Odyssey Data.[5]

Current material data lists it in:

  • RES buildings
  • MED rooms
  • CMD buildings
  • mission rewards[5]

Because it is Data, Employee Genetic Data does not occupy the physical Goods section of the suit backpack.

= Genetic Research

Genetic Research is Odyssey Data.[6]

Current material data lists it in:

  • MED rooms
  • RES buildings
  • AGRI buildings
  • mission rewards[6]

Unlike Employee Genetic Data, Genetic Research is also used in some Odyssey modification recipes, including Combat Movement Speed.[6]

Tip

Because Oden accepts any combination of the three materials, there is no reason to deliberately farm equal quantities. Use whichever qualifying material you can acquire most efficiently until the combined total reaches 20.

Odyssey Engineering at Oden Geiger

Odyssey Engineering works differently from ship Engineering.

Suits and handheld weapons have an equipment grade. Higher equipment grades provide additional modification slots:

Equipment grade Modification slots
Grade 1 0
Grade 2 1
Grade 3 2
Grade 4 3
Grade 5 4

Oden installs individual modifications into those available slots.

His modifications do not progress through Grade 1–5 Engineer reputation.

Important

A Grade 5 Artemis Suit does not receive a "Grade 5 Night Vision" modification. Grade 5 describes the suit itself and provides four modification slots; Night Vision occupies one of those slots as a single permanent modification.

See Odyssey Engineering for equipment grades, modification slots, upgrading, and Engineering-material mechanics.

Available Engineering

Oden currently provides five Odyssey modifications.[1]

Modification Equipment Primary effect
Enhanced Tracking Suit Increases the range and speed of the suit's basic scan function
Improved Battery Capacity Suit Increases suit battery capacity by 50%
Night Vision Suit Adds night-vision capability
Scope Handheld weapon Adds a scope or improves an existing optic
Stability Handheld weapon Reduces weapon recoil

Enhanced Tracking

Enhanced Tracking improves the suit's basic scanning function by increasing its range and scan performance.[1]

Current data lists:

  • +100% line-of-sight analysis range[1]

The current recipe is:

Other Engineers currently providing Enhanced Tracking include:

Tip

EDFM recommendation: Enhanced Tracking is a specialised utility modification.

The doubled scan range can be useful during occupied-settlement operations where identifying NPCs from farther away is valuable, but most suit builds have more broadly useful alternatives competing for the same limited modification slots.

Field note

Current external data describes Enhanced Tracking as increasing both scan range and speed. Its numerical range bonus is clearly listed as +100%, while the displayed analysis-time field is less intuitive. EDFM therefore does not assign a specific percentage to the scan-speed improvement here without direct in-game timing verification.[1]

Improved Battery Capacity

Improved Battery Capacity increases the suit's total battery-energy capacity by 50%.[1]

The current modifier is:

  • +50% battery energy capacity[1]

The current recipe is:

Other Engineers currently providing Improved Battery Capacity include:

Tip

EDFM recommendation: Improved Battery Capacity is one of Oden's strongest general-purpose suit modifications.

A larger energy reserve benefits settlement missions, combat, exploration, tool use, shields, and operations in environments where the suit consumes additional power.

Field note

Improved Battery Capacity increases the suit's main energy reserve. It is different from Increased Air Reserves, which affects emergency oxygen after usable suit power has been exhausted.

Night Vision

Night Vision adds night-vision capability to the suit.[1]

The current recipe is:

Only two current Odyssey Engineers provide Night Vision:

Tip

EDFM recommendation: Night Vision

Night Vision is Oden's most distinctive modification and one of the strongest reasons to complete his Engineer branch.

It is useful on all three suit types because surface activities frequently take place on the dark side of planets and moons, inside poorly lit structures, or around settlements with limited lighting.

Night Vision can make it easier to:

  • navigate dark terrain;
  • identify structures and obstacles;
  • locate NPCs and settlement features;
  • fight without relying entirely on the suit torch; and
  • operate at powered-down or poorly illuminated settlements.

Field note

Oden is currently the only Bubble Engineer who installs Night Vision. The alternative, Yi Shen, is located in the Colonia region.[7]

Tip

If you expect to engineer several different suit types, plan carefully before spending Night Vision materials. Each suit must receive the modification individually.

Scope

Scope adds a magnified optic to a compatible handheld weapon or improves the weapon's existing optic.[1]

The current recipe is:

Other Engineers currently providing Scope include:

Tip

EDFM recommendation: Scope is most useful on weapons deliberately intended for aimed medium- or longer-range combat.

It is less valuable on close-range weapons where most engagements occur at distances that do not benefit meaningfully from magnification.

Scope can pair naturally with modifications such as Greater Range when the entire weapon is being configured for ranged engagement.

Important

Odyssey weapon modification slots are permanent and limited. Decide the intended role of the weapon before committing a slot to Scope.

Stability

Stability reduces the recoil generated by a handheld weapon.[1]

The current modifier is:

  • +30% Stability[1]

The current recipe is:

Other Engineers currently providing Stability include:

Tip

EDFM recommendation: Stability is most valuable on weapons where recoil makes successive shots difficult to keep on target.

Weapons with little practical recoil or builds centred around single deliberate shots may gain less from the modification than automatic or rapid-fire weapons.

Stability can also complement Scope on a ranged weapon by making the sight picture easier to maintain during repeated fire.

Engineer Unlock Chain

Oden Geiger belongs to the Jude Navarro branch of the Odyssey Engineer network.

The complete branch is:

Jude Navarro
└── Terra Velasquez
    └── Oden Geiger

The progression is:

  1. Unlock Jude Navarro by completing 10 Restore or Reactivation missions.
  2. Give Jude 5 Genetic Repair Meds to discover Terra Velasquez.
  3. Complete 6 Covert Theft and/or Covert Heist missions to unlock Terra.
  4. Give Terra 15 Financial Projections to discover Oden Geiger.
  5. Sell a combined total of 20 Biological Samples, Employee Genetic Data, and/or Genetic Research to bartenders to unlock Oden.[3][1]

Oden Geiger does not currently refer the Commander to another Odyssey Engineer.[7]

  • the equipment is compatible;
  • the suit or weapon has an unused modification slot; and
  • you possess the required Odyssey materials and credits.

The suit or weapon itself is upgraded separately through Pioneer Supplies.

Oden has no further Engineer referral requirement.

See Odyssey Engineering for the complete on-foot Engineering system.

Experimental Effects

Not applicable.

Odyssey suit and handheld-weapon Engineering does not use the separate ship-module Experimental Effects system.

Oden's five modifications are themselves the permanent modifications installed onto the equipment.

Blueprint Pinning

Not applicable.

Odyssey modifications cannot be pinned for Remote Engineering in the same manner as ship Engineering blueprints.

A suit or weapon must be taken directly to Oden Geiger or another Odyssey Engineer offering the desired modification.

Field note

Unlocking Oden therefore does not make Night Vision, Stability, Scope, or his other modifications remotely available through Pioneer Supplies or another station.

Oden's modification set ranges from broadly useful suit upgrades to specialised weapon modifications.

General-purpose suits

Tip

EDFM recommendation: Night Vision and Improved Battery Capacity are Oden's strongest broadly useful suit modifications.

Night Vision provides a capability unavailable from any other Bubble Engineer, while Improved Battery Capacity increases the operating endurance of almost any suit role.

Which one should take priority depends on the suit's intended purpose and the remaining modification slots.

Maverick Suit

For a Maverick Suit used for settlement missions, salvage, and infiltration:

  • Night Vision — strong general-purpose visibility improvement
  • Improved Battery Capacity — extends settlement operating time
  • Enhanced Tracking — situationally useful for identifying NPCs during occupied-settlement work

Enhanced Tracking generally competes with more broadly useful Maverick modifications such as Extra Backpack Capacity and Reduced Tool Battery Consumption.

Artemis Suit

For an exploration-focused Artemis Suit:

  • Night Vision is highly useful for dark-side exobiology and terrain navigation.
  • Improved Battery Capacity extends time away from the ship or SRV.
  • Enhanced Tracking normally provides little benefit during isolated exploration.

Dominator Suit

For a combat-focused Dominator Suit:

  • Night Vision is useful for nighttime conflict zones and settlement combat.
  • Improved Battery Capacity supports longer periods of shield and suit operation.
  • Enhanced Tracking is more situational because hostile contacts are usually already obvious during active combat.

Weapons

Oden offers:

Tip

EDFM recommendation: Do not automatically combine Scope and Stability on every weapon.

Scope is primarily a ranged-aiming modification, while Stability is primarily a recoil-control modification. A weapon benefits most when the modification addresses an actual limitation of that weapon and its intended role.

A precision or ranged weapon may benefit from both, while a close-range weapon may have better uses for its limited modification slots.

What Oden Cannot Modify

Oden currently provides five modification types:

  • Enhanced Tracking — suit
  • Improved Battery Capacity — suit
  • Night Vision — suit
  • Scope — weapon
  • Stability — weapon[1]

Other commonly useful modifications require different Engineers.

Examples include:

See Odyssey Engineer Modifications for the complete Engineer-by-modification matrix.

What Next?

Oden Geiger is the endpoint of the Jude Navarro Odyssey Engineer branch and does not currently introduce another Engineer.

After unlocking Oden, further Odyssey Engineering progression requires working on another independent branch or the Colonia Engineer network.
