Beam Lasers are thermal energy weapons that fire a continuous beam for as long as the trigger is held and the weapon capacitor allows, rather than firing in individual bursts like a Pulse Laser or Burst Laser.

Overview

Beam Lasers draw heavily on the ship's weapon capacitor and generate significant heat during sustained fire, but that continuous beam makes them easy to keep on target and effective at wearing down shields over time. Like all lasers, they have unlimited ammunition — thermal weapons draw on the ship's Power Distributor rather than a physical magazine — which makes heat and power management, not reloading, the main limiting factor.
