Pulse Lasers fire single, low-heat energy shots. Of the three ship-mounted laser types, they place the smallest demand on power and thermal budgets, at the cost of lower damage per shot than a Burst Laser or Beam Laser.

Overview

Pulse Lasers are frequently a new ship's default hardpoint weapon, and remain useful even for experienced Commanders on builds where power and heat headroom are tight. As a thermal weapon they draw on the ship's Power Distributor rather than carrying physical ammunition, so there's no magazine to manage.
