An automated point-defence turret that shoots down incoming missiles and mines without manual aiming.
Point Defence is an automated utility turret that fires on incoming missiles and mines within its detection range, engaging targets on its own rather than needing to be aimed by the pilot.
Overview
Because it fires automatically at any qualifying threat nearby, Point Defence is a passive layer of missile/mine defence rather than something a Commander actively triggers — it's fitted and largely left to do its job in the background. It can also intercept some limpets, which is worth remembering when flying with a friendly Collector Limpet Controller or Prospector Limpet Controller active nearby, since Point Defence does not reliably distinguish friendly limpets from hostile ones.
