Burst Lasers fire a short burst of several shots per trigger pull, sitting between the single-shot Pulse Laser and the continuous Beam Laser in both heat generation and sustained damage output.

Overview

Because each trigger pull fires multiple rounds, Burst Lasers can land more total damage per pull than a Pulse Laser without the constant capacitor and thermal load of a Beam Laser, making them a common middle-ground choice for Commanders balancing sustained damage against heat management. As a thermal weapon, ammunition is unlimited and governed by the ship's Power Distributor rather than a physical magazine.
